The No ETA tour went back on the road after celebrating New Years Eve with Sue and Larry in Atlanta. Since January and February are difficult months for perambulation, we decided on a fixed-base strategy. Warm weather, of course, was a desideratum. And since the Coachella Valley of Southern California and Death Valley are essentially the only paces in the Western US with reliable daytime temps in the 70s, we went for the Valley. We have found a nice two-bedroom furnished condominium in Palm Desert, quite close to the best hiking and biking trails. Home schooling continues. But we have the added benefit of a large public library (and borrowing privileges) and even a YMCA home schoolers PE program twice a week. It is a nice change not to pack and unpack every few days and to be able leisurely to enjoy sampling a wide range of activities and cultural institutions. The photos show the car ready to depart Parker Head (in the rain) and the first afternoon in Palm Desert.
