Although almost everything in Las Vegas is open on Thanksgiving, we decided to bypass the multi-course turkey dinners available at all of the high-end restaurants (e.g., $59.95 per person pre fixe at Wolfgang Pluck, not including beverages and gratuity) and have a non-traditional cookout at Redrocks Canyon. Our menu: hamburgers and veggie burgers, sweet potatoes on the grill, green beans with almonds, and pies from Whole Foods for dessert. It was a sunny, cloudless day in the upper 60s. At Willow Creek picnic area there were many other families and lots of kids with the same idea. Great fun. And wild burros.
